Default "New" USCG Documented vessel renewal fees

Not news to many of you, but formerly "free" annual renewal of documented vessel certificate now costs $26. Oh well...it is what it is.

Had to do that a couple months ago. Hate that you have to renew every year, why not every 5 unless there are changes.

I am a new owner of a 41' boat and was told that documenting the boat was the way to go. That was last year, and thankfully there was a mix up getting the documentation paperwork submitted, and the end result was it was not documented with the USCG. I have since registered the boat with the state. $25 for three years vs. the USCG $26 annual. I also don't have to mess about with annual paperwork in that regard now. I think it kind of looks funny to see registration numbers on such a big boat.

I do like boat ownership... to say the least, however it's become my new all consuming hobby! My wife calls the boat my mistress. I may be back in town by memorial day, however I'm not sure I'll be able to swing a PWS run into it by then. We'll get together soon though.

I do not have an MMSI number yet.
