Now count how many days it takes the kings to get to Baird Canyon, and then to Canyon Creek.

The commercial catch on Thursday's opener was very light.

I work in the seafood business so have some insight.

good guess....but not right ...most of the kings are too big to fit their head in the net to get gilled .....so a lot of time they get their nose and teeth wrapped in the net...as they start over the roller they fall out back into the water ....so when the king is spotted coming u
p the back of the net...somebody will yell out King....then someone will grab the landing net an Hold it
under it so if it falls off... it will fall into the landing net...we can't let it get away it might go up to the dip netters or fishwheels or even get to spawn.

Ha! Then the picture is a fake, because their net is still on board. They are actually in the boat harbor and the picture was taken from the top of the ramp...

Talked to a couple of the plants in Cordova who processed about 1/6 of what they expected.

the numbers are in ....Thursday's opener 16100 reds...they were anticipating 37200 Reds....and they got 1400 kings....that seems pretty good for kings....last year's first opener they only got a little over a thousand kings...pretty good meaning that they've been so bad last few years...still low for what it should be...Monday they're giving them a 24 hour opening....

Any thoughts to what we are seeing on the Miles Lake sonar page? Looks like a healthy run to me.

looks like a really early run...you're up to 10,000 a day....the bad thing is these fish will be going through...before the season opens....as long as the water stays lowthe first fish make it through in about 7 days this is what I've experienced...if the water gets high that will stop or slow them down...at least these are my thoughts
