Default Which bilge pump float switch?

Most seem to get pretty bad reviews...

Current model is a rule http://www.westmarine.com/buy/rule-i...11_330_002_502

I disconnected the auto side last year while on the water and forgot about it until AFTER I put the batteries in last night (new cabelas AGM 22's with ONLY the top screw post (PITA) - now I know why the batteries were cheap and a new model is coming out). Of course after the batts were all tied in and I connected the float I recalled the disconnection when I heard the pump running solid - so out the batteries came.

Here's the other one I'm looking at which is a electro-magnetic type float.

I have a pair of Rules like your first link.
Been in the boat for for 24 years and still work fine.
Don't see any reason to change.

I have an extra of the electro magnetic type floats that you are welcome to have. It has never been used. I am not sure of the brand off the top of my head.
Spending my kids' inheritance with them, one adventure at a time.

The new rules are not made with mercury any more...they get bad reviews.

Went with a Johnson. Thanks for the offer though spoilt'.

These float switches are popular with the sailboats people.

Also Water Witch float switch as long as there not a lot of fresh water.

There's lots of fancy things them sailboater people like that us motor cruiser types don't necessarily require/appreciate the fineness in quality of the product.

Great experience with the water witch - would absolutely buy again. Small outfit but good quality products and easy to call for customer support.

The new Johnson is working good in auto mode.

I think I am going to get rid of Reel Nauti though - I have four-foot-itis'.
