    Default Kodiak 2015 Spring Bears

Would love to hear if anyone is seeing much activity of bears on Kodiak or if they still seem to be denned up with recent snow and cold streak. Always looking for more advise as I will be on Uganik Island in just over a week.
    Thanks

They are moving, been moving pretty good since end of Mar. Had a 7 1/2' terrorizing the Flats and Gov housing, it got shot when it tried to get into anohter chicken coop. Seen sows and cubs down low already. Buddy got footage of one chasing down buffalo, another buddy watched 2 boars going at it a week ago, the bigger of the 2 was 9 1/2' which he shot, 26 7/16 skull. Watched another one 2 days ago, buddy made a play on one last night. So, ya, bears are around.

We saw seven bears during the last 10 days. I was with a co-worker this evening when he shot this one.

That's weird...... When I first clicked on the top link it took me to your album and I got to see all your pics there. Now it only just shows the same pic. What was the story on the pic of the bear standing by himself almost broadside? Was he not as big as the one your friend killed? Did he kill it off the whale carcass?
Sheep hunting...... the pain goes away, but the stupidity remains...!!!

We're actually on Afognak Island. I wasn't trying to be misleading but our bears and the ones on Kodiak usually coincide as far as sightings. You should be hitting it about the right time.

The dark bear that is quartering towards me is the bear I finally shot last year. The lighter bear that's quartering away is a sow(?) that was walking down a creek below me while I was scouting last year. The bear that's asleep in the water with her head on the bank is a 8+ bear. A young lady shot her during last season up by the same lake. The bear that's asleep on a pile of gravel below my house is the same SOB that chewed the seat, grips, fenders, shifter and popped the tire on my wife's 4-wheeler. The picture of the bears by the whale was taken last November. I visited it several times this spring and there's only that skull left. Nearly every time I've visited it this spring there were some good size tracks visiting it. The picture of my radio next to the track shows the size of the bear that's been checking it out.
He didn't kill his bear off that beach. It was a beach out in Izhut Bay. That's where we saw most of the bears.
It was pretty crappy weather but we had a blast!

Killing a brown bear near Kitoi bay hatchery is hunting at the zoo the bears are everywhere and half tame at least they don't hide and run from humans like they do in the bush. keep hunting the right way boys your bear will be much more rewarding.

Any Frazer Lake reports? I'll be there starting Friday.
