Thread: 2015 Commercial King Quota?

    Default 2015 Commercial King Quota?

Does anybody know where I can find the total allocation for the BSAI and GOA, both commercial and sport?
    Thanks.

Given the number of views and lack of response, I thought I'd clarify why I need this. I am in law school and I'm writing a paper on bycatch in the North Pacific, specifically king bycatch. I've been looking and I can find the allocations up through 2014, but I was hoping to have the current year's numbers.

Might call the North Pacific Fisheries Management Council. We'd be interested to hear what you find. Maybe post the numbers on here if you remember.

Should be a phone# on their site:

Where do you go to law school, and whats the legal theory/premise of the paper? Just curious - I go to Texas A&M myself.

I'm at the University of Utah. I'm looking at the "best available scientific data" requirements of the sustainable fisheries act and the Magnuson-Stevens Act and comparing trawling and bycatch regulations and techniques between Alaska and Canada.

I can help you out...but we're in the middle of a North Pacific Council meeting with BS/AI Chinook salmon bycatch on the agenda right now (AKCAPT is there, too). I sent you a PM with my email address, and I can follow up with you next week.

I assume you're looking at halibut trawl by catch numbers as well, but if not, they're pretty interesting.... When Canada began requiring observers aboard their trawlers, their halibut by catch dropped by over 50% in the first year, with no great reduction in the amount of target species caught.

    Thanks,
    David

David, I have looked at that, and that is a focus for a much larger paper I am working on as well.
