I have heard onion is a good Anchorage. I plan on checking it out at some point this summer.

I used to set-net just west of Port Bailey on the other side of Kupreanof Strait. I remember going in to Onion with a 22' skiff. Shallow inlet but it opens up once inside. It's been quite a few years, but I do recall nets in the water (subsistence maybe). We beached on gravel/sand. Good hiking!

There is good anchorage in Onion Bay for boats. The bay is deep once you get inside; however, there are gravel bars near the mouth which change year to year. If you go in on high tide it is not an issue. I ran my Oceanpro in there several times over the years. During the summer there are commercial set net sites near the enterance you need to be mindful of, just watch for the outside anchor buoys and you will be fine.
