    Default Petersville area snow conditions

Does anyone know how the trails around Petersville area are? Are scratchers needed

Depends where you are going, but rain last week hit most of the area. Scratchers will be needed if you have a hard to cool machine.

For the trails you can use a four wheeler. Guys were on the Kahiltna from Kroto on quads this weekend.

Really? It's that bad up there? Bummer. Thought I may get some good riding in over spring break.

How about an update for this weekend. It's been above freezing ever since the last report, and it rained hard all night long last night!

Grooming report from Curry Ridge Riders (everyone who rides up there should join):

This week 6"+ new snow fell but turned to rain in the lower elevations. The Tokositna and E/W(west of the Reflector Tree) Trails were groomed tuesday. P-ville Rd, Deep Creek, Black Creek and Jim/Mar Trails were groomed wednesday and the Safari Lake Trail was groomed thursday. No grooming of the E/W(east of the Reflector Tree) or CBT was done this week due to warm temps and rain. These trails do have plenty of snow for riding and accessing the area. More snow is predicted for the weekend with cooler temps next week.

Anyone riding this weekend? I'm thinking either Friday Saturday or Sunday. It's just me, so I have an open spot on my trailer. Petersville or towards Igloo would be great.

Go towards Igloo, Rob. I just drove back from Cantwell yesterday, and while the Petersville area got a bit of dense, heavy snow, from Igloo to Cantwell is excellent with at least 24" of fresh snow from this last storm.

Perfect. It looked pretty good up there a week ago before the storm too.

I can't do it this weekend. Honestly it's been on my list of trips to do for a while now. I'd be able to do it next weekend though. If something changes in the next day or so, I'll let ya know.

Cantwell got hit hard by the wind today. Was there...still good snow in the trees and plenty deep! Everywhere! ImageUploadedByTapatalk1426315959.530895.jpg

Petersville was decent once you got out further. There was some kind of Women's ride. Big sign up in the Kroto Creek parking lot. Pickle Creek trail had some dirt stretches.

Lots of concrete snow up in the Dutch hills. I would not recommend trying to bust any drifts. Good patches of snow here and there, typical spring like snow.

121 was much better today. Lots of good swamp riding to be had still.

Fyi don't park by the bathrooms at Kroto. Learned that one... Some grumpy people out there.
