    Default Homer Harbor/Spit Webcams

I've been working on this project for a while and it's finally happening.

I recently installed 3 webcams on the Homer Spit. 1 camera shows a view of the Homer Harbor and the other 2 cameras show the water to the South/West of the spit.

Images are updated every minute during daylight hours. There's also a few timelapse options for each camera which can be viewed at anytime.

Please feel free to provide feedback, as I want to make improvements to this site over time.

Good job. That will be very useful. Another good feature would be if a guy could show wind speed.

Thanks, a quality weather station with wind and temp is actually quite expensive. I'm hoping to have one sometime this summer...

I've thought about displaying the weather info from the HMRA2 weather station. I know that I can display that info on the web page. However, I'm not sure that I could overlay that info on the webcam image. Do you think displaying that info on the page (vs. on the image) would be useful?

Actually, I would be interested in that at some point...

    Mike,
This is awesome. Better than the Chamber's setup. The one thing I could suggest is to ask Capt. Mike's Charters to put up a flag pole so people can get an idea of what the wind's doing. Good job man!

Thanks Jim! I thought about a flag, but thought it might be hard to tell what the wind is really doing with a still shot of the wind sock. Hopefully, I can just get a wind sensor installed this summer...

You can use the Nanwalek and Nikiski cams as well if you are around Flat Island or heading up the north side of Cook Inlet. Beluga, Trading, Anchor Pt, etc aren't usable due to their locations.

Mike, great job. Any way to zoom the water shots a bit more?

Great job, thanks a million for doing that installation. An excellent accompaniment to HMRA2.

Unfortunately, the answer is no. At least for now... I zoomed the lenses all the way. I'd like to get a different lens at some point.

This is great. Thanks! I second the comments about adding one at Anchor Point. Perhaps you could talk to Todd who runs the tractor. He is one there spring, summer, and early fall but that would be great for most people. How much does a webcam cost?

Just curious? Is there a way to donate some cash to help pay for the weather station or similar options that will provide that solution, or for more cams, locations, ect. I would consider contributing as this realy is helpful with my family situations now I can get the lady out with out being to suprised thanks much it is an awsome feature.

I definetly like being able to see the water conditions and figured I would suggest looking into just putting an airfield style windsock somewhere in the one of the camera views. Not sure of the cost difference between a small weather station and all that but with a small windsock can get an idea of the direction and windspeed according to how straight the sock is in the wind.
