Default Great finish to a great season....WA late hunt

Went down to WA last week to finish out the 2014 season, and had a great time. Weather was unusually nice, and the birds were there in numbers I havent seen in a while. We had lots of opportunities on large flocks of mallards and did pretty well on the honkers too. I got to meet up with a friend I havent hunted with in about 25 years, and we had a great couple of shoots.

A really fun mallard shoot. Birds worked great into the call and the weather was sunny and 50.

This was a fun little shoot. Small farm pond, and we knew it was going to be a quick hunt. Our shooting left a little to be desired, but we were able to get in some good scouting the rest of the day.

Enjoying a lunch break later that day while scouting.

and this is what the scouting led to....a really fun corn field shoot. Wind and tall corn made shooting tough, but we did pretty well.

and the goose hunting was pretty productive too...We only really targeted geese two days, but did well both days we did. Dog did great and got some long retrieves and a couple of sailed birds.

All hidden and ready for birds......

I'm from Wa, just curious what general area did you hunt, I have hunted a lot around Potholes/Othello. and was that pvt land or some public land. Great hunt to remember. good shooting. Bud

Yep. Generally, we hunt more private than public....but this year, we hunted more public than private. I think we ran across one other guy hunting the areas we were. We talked one morning, and he was hunting a pond to the west of the one we hunted, so it worked out for both.
