    Default Island Lake ice fishing

Does anyone have any tips about where and how to fish on Island lake in Nikiski? Went there last week but did not catch anything big.

Seriously, bang large lures on the bottom. That seems to drive char mad.

I've never had trouble catching fish there. I usually fish near the island.
I use my own jigs I make myself. Minnow head jigs and round head both with wire keepers and grub tails are a couple of my favorites.

Have you caught any of those 5 pound Arctic char that they stocked in November?

Between 3 people, we caught 7 fish but none of them were over 15 inches. Maybe we'll try by the island next time.

I caught a 6 pounder couple days ago. I used a flasher to get that beast! I like to fish by the island at about ten feet of water.
