    Which area in PWS will be open for commercial shrimping this coming season?

    The farthest south area - Area 3.

    Only January and I'm chompin at the bit. I don't commercial fish them. Booked a couple cabins to span almost a week right after the opener. Maybe the bears will be out early this year.

    I have been working on getting my work schedule sorted out for shrimping and bear hunting.. thinking middle of May is going to be good this year.... its a sickness.

    Of course the commercial guys never reach their quota there so we will see how that plays out this year.

    They do reach there quota in certain areas. Unawik area got closed last year I think and a certain bay that I will not mention gets got closed last time it was open.

    Polardds was referring to Area 3. They never reach their quota in Area 3.

    There is one area in three that got shut down last time, I expect it to get hit hard again this year.

    Yes, one of the statistical areas was shut down last time this area was open. But the overall quota has never been met in that zone.

    The shrimp get scarce down South. I have pulled a few empty pots down there.

    Yeah we don't even take pits with us when we head south. I'm sure there are some secret spots but just not worth the trouble.
