I hope more is on the way but it isn't looking good. We have a Nancy lake cabin reserved next weekend

Any one have a current trail report for Willow area?

Last few times driving to our cabin near Trapper Creek it seemed like Willow had the most snow between Anchortown and Trapper. Also, I've been watching the area temperatures and while Anchorage and Talkeetna have often gone above freezing, Willow has generally been below. Just looking to trail ride and break in some new machines.

I went for my first ride yesterday; trails on east side of highway were good. Perfect for cruising around. I didn't go the west side but even the ditches were ok other than the road grit.

Was that up Hatcher's Pass Road? I'm not really familiar with trails east of Willow.

There are lots of trails to the East of Willow, and below Hatcher Pass (the Haessler-Norris Trails). But they are mostly narrow and heavily used by dog mushers. Not the best place for tooling around on a sno-go. I've been there recently. The trails are hard snow/ice, especially where mushers have dragged them. And the swamps have little snow covering the tussocks and brush. If you want to break in machines, I would think the Curry Ridge Rider trails north of Trapper Creek at MP 121 and 131 would be a better bet.

Yes up HP road a little. Hard to explain if you don't know the area. Park at the community center/library and ride from there. Maps are available at Townsite Gas and? Driving down toward the lakes last night the trails seemed nice on the west side too. Go for it!

Our cabin is near there and we were up last weekend. The E/W express (MP121) was in sad shape for 10 miles or so west of the highway. It has been above freezing since then, so I know it isn't getting better. Just looking out the truck window driving by, Willow looked better. Also, just wanted a day outing with less driving. Thanks for the info on some of the Willow trails though.

Trails around our spot have been crusty at best. Very little recreational riding, although there are some making trips to Skwetna and beyond. We haven'tg gotten any measurable snow since Christmas eve and that was minimal.
