    Default Cordova silvers...

Spent this past weekend in CDV, Flyfishing for silvers. Although the weather threw horrendous wind and rain (over 6 inches), we still managed to get daily limits! With the extremely high water condition, most streams- Ibeck/ Alaganik/ Eyak were blown out. However, we headed down to the salt at hippy cove and slayed 'em!

WARNING: if you're thinking of snagging/ over-harvesting, there is a local gentleman there (sitting in a white PT Cruiser), who counts everyone's fish, and takes photos of individuals who ignore the regs. He will report you to ADF&G.... Please be respectful of the law and those fishing around you.

I fished the Ibeck a couple of weeks ago and did ok. I tried my luck at hippy cove and had no luck at all. Seemed all the fish had lock jaw. What did you use and when was the best time for fishing? Did you fish the pond or fish the ocean side?

We fished both sides of the pond (fresh side & ocean side). On the fresh side, we drifted roe near the culvert opening. We also used pink bunny leaches that were particularly effective! There were small schools (< 20) milling around on a regular basis. On the salt side, bright green minnow patterns worked well just before high tide and just after. Silvers were stacked in almost ever hole 50 yards from the falls.
