    Default Best family friendly experience

My family and I are new to alaska, living in anchorage. I am wondering where a good place to take them to experience a little panning. I am not really looking for a tourist trap, but something fairly easy for the family.

You could try Caribou Creek at the Glenn Highway (MP 110ish?).

We like to go to Crow Creek Mine. They will be open until September 15.

Indian Valley mine is also nice.

In Hope there is Gold Rush Peck. Don't know how long he will still be there.

Access can be a challenge at Caribou Creek.

I believe there is a public use area at Petersville. DNR wile site will have details. Maybe not the place to go though in moose season

If you're headed to Petersville, I'd recommend looking at cache Creek. $20 per person and the folks that run it are great.
