May as well pin this one up before it gets buried too many pages down the main fishing forum.

Default Son's First, Mine is still coming!

Well the kings at ship are coming in pretty decent finally. After 3 straight weeks of fishing I have yet to land me first king, but my son managed it on his first time fishing with me there. You should have seen his face when it hit! He has never caught anything bigger than about 7 lbs before this and it took him about 10 minutes to get her in!

Good judgment comes from experience, and a lot of that comes from bad judgment.

    Default Only one fish today

I was checking shrimp pots today and decided to try fishing for rock fish inside Port Valdez today. I caught one flounder and released it. I then had something bite and the fight was on. It took me about 15-20 minutes before I was abe to see what I had. When I did....... what to do. I had a .22 revolver so I placed three rounds in the head. The fight gone I then tried to bring him in with the gaff. On the third try with my foot on the rail, she came up over the rail. I knew she was a good fish and a tape on the boat showed over 60".

Back in port trying to get the thing on the cleaning table a nice young lady from Fish and Game wandered over and when I told her of my problem, she helped me lift the fish on the cleaning table. We then did a good measurement and came up with 65". Her chart read the weight at around 140 pounds.

Not bad for inside Port Valdez. My biggest halibut yet and within 5 miles of home.

P.S. My fishing partner there weighs 130.

    Default Medium Sized Chuit King

Here's a client with a medium sized Chuit King. The kings have really come in over there. I've seen kings in the neighborhood of 50lbs over there.
