Didn't see that one coming. First The moose now the sheep.

If the #'s are correct, this is most definitely needed, but really, they couldn't have announced this a little sooner?

No doubt! There is no excuse for issuing an EO 2 days before the opener. Guys have already spent thousands getting dropped off before the 10th. I used to go in on the 7th so I would have a day or two to scout out the area and find a good spot to set up camp.

So what happens when folks start wandering in 5-6 days from now with sheep?

They knew last year the sheep numbers were very, very low!! I wonder what takes them so long to make a decision on a closure? Kind a like the clams, and crabs. And soon to be shrimp??

NW alaska seems to be suffering from multiple species declines (remember WACH count was down also) or really poor critter counting jobs and F&G staff who refuse to admit such.
Perhaps we will see a moose decline in unit 23 soon!
