    Default Southeast Alaska Crab Diving

Why set pots when you can go diving?

    Very nice!
Any more detail to add? You dive on a Hookah correct?
Man that sounds/looks like fun and some great eating.

I have a Hookah and dive on it sometimes; but this time I was diving tanks. It's a lot more convenient for me to throw a few tanks in the boat, instead a compressor and 180 feet of dive hose. I was diving 10-50 feet for these crab, but most of them were 20-30 feet on a muddy shelf at the head of a bay. Must have seen 120+ crab. There were 50 crab pots in the bay, but that didn't seem to make a difference! We pulled my buddies pot on our way out of the bay and picked up 20 more keepers.

I used to do that in Washington, we'd find them in the eel grass in about 20-30' too.
