    Default Filleted fish weights........

Anyone ever weigh their fish and average them out...?

We divided our catch from Chitina tonight, average yield was 2.75 pounds per fish.

34 Kenai reds equaled 95 lbs of fillets for us.

33 Kenai reds gave us 117lb of fillets. I should mention the majority of them were fatties in the 8-10lb range

We did not weigh our fillets...but we did net a few REALLY big fat bucks on our first and fairly successful trip down to the Kenai...11lb or more on a couple of them, if I had to guess.

We have taken to cutting the belly/rib section off for smoking, after we get them home..Save the thicker meat along the sides and back for the freezer...

Man, I love reds... whoever commented they wished the state would stock them up here...I am in FULL agreement.

That was actually after the bellies were removed so the fillets were even bigger before! I learned in recent years how good the bellies are smoked!

We had some pretty big ones in the mix, but several smaller ones as well. Last year we had 50 fish at 144 pounds - 2.88 per fish. So pretty on par for the course.
