    Default Tanner crab near Ketch

Anyone fish for tanners near Ketch? I'm thinking about building a few pots for them. I always seem to get some small ones in my shrimp pots. How would you target them down here? Water depth, bottom type etc...

I don't know about Ketchikan but in Homer deep and muddy is best.
    I like 350+ feet.
I prefer the pyramid style pots the gear shed in Homer sells. Especially the 4x4 base size.

Well I built me a 3ft by 3ft by 20" pot with 2 neptune triggers. Gonna try a few spots and see what happens.

Here is the King crab/Tanner pots that I build here in southeast. I prefer the Pyramid pots for crab fishing. If anyone is interested, I would be happy to build them one. This is a 4x4 model, although I also make 3x3.

Nice job that looks like my gearshed pots.
That is a great Tanner crab pot.
Hang some fish carcasses in it and you are good to go.

Well, I found em. 280ft muddy flat bottom up an inlet. All males, about a dozen that were 5" carapace. 1/2" too short. Got a bunch of smaller ones too. Mow I need to find the legal sized ones.

Are you still into them? Have you been picking up any species of king crab?
