    Default Just a duck

    I am not sure what kind of a duck this one is, but the feather markings are just fantastic. This one is feeding, with a mate, at the gravel pit just south of Barrow.

    Nice image of what looks like a male Long-tailed Duck. At one time they were called Old Squaw Ducks.

    Yep that's an old squaw. I got a pair on my wall I got in Kodiak

    Yep. I did a bit of checking and verified that is what it is. In breeding plumage.

    Certainly a very pretty duck. The image looks a little nicer printed than it does on a computer monitor, so that one is now hanging in Sam & Lee's Restaurant here in Barrow.
