    Default King Rod Reel

For the money what is the best King set up fishing the Lake Creek Area and the Nush? I'm thinking braided line this year. What test do you recommend

What type of fishing will you be doing? There are ideal rods for each method.

I probably will be casting from the boat or shore. I will need a rig for back bouncing as well, once I figure it out.

My choice: TFO model GTS HSC 885-2 8'8" or Lamiglass model 1314-T 8'6"

Who carries the lamglass rod in Anchorage? I am looking to try the Flashtrap spinners as well. Hate to drive all the way to 3 rivers but will if necessary.

I suggest checking out Kodiak Custom inline spinner selection.

I would run 50 pound power pro. Its tough to beat! Other option is 65 pound. Diameter gets too fine if you go any lighter; and make sure to use the proper knots! Shimano Calcutta is far, far superior to an Abu C3. GLoomis has some excellent rods for kings. You'll pay a little more, but well worth it.

The Nush is a different animal than Lake Creek. Big, wide, deep, slow, with smaller average size kings. Lake Creek is fast, rocky, with many kings breaking 50 pounds. Whats good for the Nush may be light for lake creek.
