    Default Ship creek?

Hi I was wondering when does ship creek open for kings I went down yesterday and saw that someone had definitely been walking along the mud at low tide and based on the amount of area they had covered they must have been fishing. And if anyone has any information about where to do the catch and release rainbow fishery on ship creek that would be awesome. Thanks

Get a reg book. It tells everything you want to know. Or look it up online.

The regs are you friend. Here is a link to the section that applies to Ship Creek, specifically page 39: http://www.adfg.alaska.gov/static/re...egulations.pdf

Far too early for Ship Creek kings. There are probably some dollies nosing around in the lower creek, though.

I dont think it opens until the 14th or 15th not sure have to check the regs. There wont be one in there before memorial day more than likely though.

According to the regs (linked to above), it is open for kings from Jan 1st through July 13th.

Correct, second bullet under "Salmon Fishing". Open season for king salmon is January1-July 13th. Over the last thirty years I've seen a few kings caught in the first two weeks in May. May 7th is the earliest confirmed king I've seen and a few have been caught as early as May 10th & 11th in years past. I heavily stress a few.

Stop running your rig so deep just to get a float drop.

Apparently, a 20# king was caught recently. Aside from that, the cod are biting at the mouth on the incoming tide.
