Default Transplant Birch Trees, Now is Time

Now is the best time to move birch trees.
Just as their leaves start forming.

I pull up the small ones , use a shove for ones I can't pull up, getting as many roost as I can
put the root in a bucket of water, take them home,
dig a shallow hole , lots of water & cover the roots,
Water heavy every other day for a couple weeks,
    Just did 20 or so.

is your purpose to create a "shelter-belt" (wind break). Or you trying to grow more leaves for your compost ??
I seem to do the same thing every time we move.. I spread a line of birch and aspen up the west side of our lot here

Down the property line. Trying to hide neighbors junk from my view.
I need some spruce trees so I don't see it in the winter too
