So you're saying Alaska should tax us so maybe they could give some of our money back so we can buy ammo?

I never knew you thought like a liberal

Entitled? You are off your liberal democrat rocker. This forum used to be a good place to exchange ideas but with so many people trying to inject their own rules or morality into it, it is a place I no longer wish to be a member of and will never visit this forum again.

Smitty why should anyone pay for someone else's ammo? Rather socialistic don't you think? The 2A is the only rule I care about

Hey, you gotta sorta get into it, to know how they think.

It's a Resolution for a Tax Credit, and you can't have a Tax Credit unless you have a Tax.

I'm afraid this idea would make a State Income Tax more Palatable. But, the tax bound to come anyway sooner or later.

It happens all the time. Are we NOT livin in a "socialistic" society? This is the way you do it, man.

If it is deemed to be for the public good you can require all kinds of stuff like this. Read them Whereas's

There are billions of families without ammunition for their guns, some don't even HAVE guns. Let's do something about it. Something endorsed by government. Everybody likes government. Well, not everybody, but most, it seems.

This is wayyyy better than the CMP. This will encourage shooting to an unbelievable degree. New markets will be created. (Probably, should make it US manufacture, only)

This is a RESOLUTION. The IDEA. You gotta work with it. We need to counter all the reely stewpid stuff like the lawsuits against gun makers, for damages when someone gets shot.

You may THINK this is a crazy plan, but that is more of a help, than a hindrance. Did you ever hear of something Sensible that passed.?

What person, in their right mind, would want the government to tax them more? Some people just ain't right.

Read the oil production predictions for the North Slope. Oil tax money will be decreasing every year..................and that ain't from changes in tax structure.
It is a completely logical train of thought that at some point in the not too distant future, Alaska will have an income tax.

I don't worry about the creation of a state income tax, too much, although I agree with your assertion here. The job market, and future job creation in Alaska is SO BAD these days that I just don't even worry about finding or having a job, hence taxes on wages are a non issue for me. Last year, I earned so little in wages that I paid no Federal income tax at all, and this year will be the same. I expect that the same would be true of a state income tax.

What WOULD worry me, and have a truly negative effect on me, is a statewide sales tax. Maybe Smitty should change his proposal to a tax incentive/deduction applied to the sales tax on ammunition.

On a side note, better start voting for state level legislators who are committed to no tax creation.

PS: yeah the concept of an "entitlement" to ammo disturbs me some, too.

I would find it bizarre to say the lest if we got a state tax before the divided went away.

My post, is in the form of a resolution, like you would find up for vote at a Political Party Convention.

Realistically I don't think it would pass, however it would tick off the Liberal/Progressive crowd. And, it's a pleasant thought that our government would promote, rather than hinder the sale and use of firearms.

Our Tax dollars subsidize many things. They are too numerous to name. Subsidizing the purchase of ammunition for the purpose of promoting the use of firearms and expertise with them, should be considered on it's own merits, rather than some philosophy, that sounds good to some people.

I don't know why it was suggested that I was going Liberal, other than the suggestion posted in answer.

I am definitely NOT a Liberal or a Progressive. I hold a couple of views that are often associated with the Liberal point of view.

I am a Former Republican, and don't belong to any political party. Nor, do I want to be described as a Conservative, because I differ with that bunch on some issues they claim.

But, it matters little what I'm called. I just didn't want to be misunderstood.

Back to the important matters. The Tax Credit would likely be more like $100.00 before it gets outta committee. Of course, it's not even CLOSE to a committee, but don't give up hope. Why shucky-gee, look at some of the proposals currently under consideration, and the ones that sailed through the Legislatures already, that were MUCH crazier than this, and the authors MUCH crazier than ME. Cut me some slack, PLEASE.

Just think about what something like this could DO. Would it be bad? Wouldn't it be wonderful? Maybe, there's a better idea that would accomplish the same thing.

While I don't like taxes much or the way they are usually spent, this would be a much better use of tax money than many I have seen. Yeah, I would much rather see tax money diverted from less useful areas to this.

How about some of the tax money used to Arm and Train, Government Agencies, like the NPS, IRS, BLM, and the EPA? "nearly a dozen, typically not associated with law enforcement have armed divisions."

    Why not arm the Citizenry?

    http://clashdaily.com/2013/09/govern...including-epa/

Everywhere you look there are things being subsidized by our tax dollars. Things that you or I, might not approve of. But the promotion of firearms and shooting could be of great value.

We would need a lot more Firing Ranges. This is gittin better all the time.
