If you mean the boat parking lot? No. Still snow covered. We had to park up front on the asphalt.

The gravel lot located on the other side of the tracks is not open yet. I just talked with Gwen and she said they will be opening up this weekend. Prices have gone up. $700 to park for the season.

$700... Almost make me wana laugh..
Couldn't believe only on place open to grab coffee of a bite to eat..
With all the boats out and the exercise they had going on.
    Whittier time to make money!

Hopefully they get it open. There was no legal parking last sunday, and they said they were going to be towing people.

Haha, no kidding. I was there on the 15th for the shrimp opener and given the numbers of boats being launched they would have had a lot of towing to do with nowhere to put 'em.

the police there enforce city rules on street parking, posted or not. they contact tow companies out of anchorage and that's where a towed rig ends up, some impound yard in anchortown.

Never have I been to a town that was more unfriendly to people who are there to spend $$.. It's just crazy, but that is Whittier.

If it wasn't so nice once we leave the harbor I see no reason to ever go there again.

No kidding! The town is rundown. Not much there. Just plain rude and expensive. The price you pay for paradise once the town is in your wake.

Just don't know why if you own a business you don't open by first tunnel in. The summer. Money to be made.. Gas station when they had the call out fee if you needed gas. That was crazy
