Default ANNUAL MAUSER MATCH near Homer

On May 3rd the Kachemak Gun Club will hold the annual MAUSER MATCH at the rifle range just south of Anchor Point.

Just as last year, there will be some cash prizes once again.

The sight in shooting will start around 0900 and hopefully the match shooting will start around 10.
There will also be a provided lunch.

Entry is $15 for members and $20 for non members. At least that is the plan as of this morning.

Shooting will be at 100 yards, prone, knelling and standing. Ten rounds from each position.

The rifle must be a military bolt action rifle using military sights.

This weekend,,,,, The weather should be great!!!

The Kachemak Gun Club Range just south of Anchor Point. East side of the highway up the gravel pit road and through the gate to the right.
I think it is mile 167 of the Sterling Hwy....

    2nd place was a Swedish m/96 rifle
3rd place was a French Lebel... YEAH WHO KNEW>>>>

    20 shooters today
Vz-24s, Kar-98s, Springfields, A nice 1917 Enfield, a Mosin, A Swedish Krag, two Swiss K-31s, and a couple Brit Enfields.

Oddly enough the last place was also a Swede Mauser.

Well it ain't all about the rifle, a great shooter can place well with not much rifle.

But anyway, where did your Sweed place?

First place with my old m/96 made by Mauser Oberndorf in 1900.
120gr Sierra Match King, 46.0 grain RL-19, 3.030 col, CCI-200 primer, Lapua Brass. I lost ten points by putting one bullet into the middle of the wrong target. ( a prone position bullet into my Knelling position bull. ) So it was close....
I let my youngest son ( darn near 30) borrow my m/38 Swede,,, he took red lantern..
Marvin Peters came in second with a borrowed m/96.
There were a lot of Swedes there this year.
One guy had the nicest 1917 Enfield I have ever seen. And he knew how to shoot... But he was using some crappy ammo.

So what are we learning here? lol The swedish rifle is the one to beat, lol---J/K.

They are good rifles and pretty much on the spot at which they are aimed at.

I wish I could have been there to take place at this show., lol, I wish they had more of these shows throughout Alaska.

Top spot, congrats. I remembered some of the targets you posted years ago when working up loads and figured you'd be top of the heap.
