    Default S&W500-500grHC? 275grXPB?

I'm looking for most effective cartridge for a S&W500. It will be for protection in grizzly country. My local gun shop thinks the corbon XPB 275gr would be the most effective round but I have my doubts from all the articles I've read about hardcast being the way to go.

Looking for information from those that have had experience from both cartridges or know someone that has. Thanks, Redbarren

A hard cast gas checked bullet should fill the bill for what you are looking for .
I would go with a 440 WFNGC grain bullet or heavier .
check with these guys for loaded hardcast ammo if you live in the lower 48 www.ballisticsupply.net

They are very nice people and will treat you right .
Enjoy your hand cannon I know I do !!!!!!!!

    Default Check with ballistic supply

I second ranger rick's suggestion. Bill at www.ballisticsupply.net is a great guy to deal with. I've been shooting their ammo in my S&W 500 for almost two years and their ammo is of the highest quality. Check them out!

Take a look at the CorBon chart. I'm not a reloader so I use CorBor's 440gr hard cast factory loads. They top the charts for 500 mag power.
