Default another yamaha question ~ noisy tilt motor

So the starboard engine on my new-2-me boat makes a considerable amount of noise when the engine is lifted. The tilt/trim motor almost sounds like its "crunching", or nearly a metal 2 metal sound. This lasts for a big until the big ram takes over. I've check the oil on both engines, and both are full.

    Normal operation?

2005 motors. Less than 400 hours on both.

Check for air in the system. Bubbles can cause that noise and poor performance. I believe the manual describes the process on bleeding air from the system. Sometimes the problem stems from a bad o-ring.

Thanks Sobie. Talked with the tech at Deweys and that's exactly what he said. That, plus this cold weather will cause the motor to do the same.
