    Default MMSI Number Listing

With the recent DCS radio thread being ressurected, I ws thinking what everyone thought about having a thread dedicated to just MMSI #'s. One where people could list thier numbers and create thier own list for keeping in the boat. Here's mine.

Rob B has a great idea here, and I think it has enough merit to become a sticky if we can figure out a few details: First, what information should be in an MMSI Directory? The MMSI number (of course!), our AOD User Name, Boat name, boating area...what else? Would people be comfortable including personal info (name/phone #)? What should the format look like? Can we use an excel spreadsheet? How can we keep a post going? What works best to maintain a list on this forum? I know somebody out there has the computer smarts to make an AOD MMSI Directory a reality! Let's hear your ideas! Mike

    Mike,
Appreciate the lesson at the sportsmans show. We were able to test and use our system with Rob this past weekend. Worked great.

    Brian:
Great to meet you at the show & glad that you got your DSC working well! Do you have any ideas about what a DSC directory should look like? AOD members are offering up their info & I'm waiting for some ideas about how we can collate & socialize the info. Mike

Should be fairly straight forward on an excel spreadsheet I would think.
A couple columns with boat name, mmsi #, owners name and or screen name on here, and a quick description of your boat (27' alum wooly pilot house, grey in color)

A sort column with options to check where they frequent, kodiak, pws, cook inlet, seward, or homer should suffice. This would alliw the user to sort only the needed #s relevant to their waters with one click on the spreadsheet.

    Your thoughts Mike?

That's about what I'm thinking too...but I'm a long ways from being a computer guy so I don't even know how to put a spread sheet on here, let alone keep it populated/up to date. I talked to Mike Strahan about it & he needs it to be fairly 'hands-free' for AOD (not time-consuming!). I started a spreadsheet from this thread and have 8 MMSI's on it with exactly the info you were talking about; Username, MMSI, Homeport, Vessel Description, Vessel Name. Now, we just need to figure out how to get this to work on the forum. Mike

Here is my newly acquired (as in 3 minutes ago) number.. 338187365 Boat name is Stor Fisk. We can be found in PWS most of the time but also have been know to hit Seward and Homer. White and blue Kingfisher. I will get the number into the VHF as soon as I can. I guess I will also have to figure out how to get my chartplotter to show the calls, I know it has the ability, just not sure how it all works.

    Hi folks,

Mike asked me about this at the Sportsman Show and, frankly, I have no idea what it is, what it's used for, etc. What can the site do to help with this?
