Default MidwayUSA "Thank you for your business" NOT

Well, Midway has decided that Alaska is no longer a place to do business.

Until this month, you could place an order and use USPS shipping. This is no longer an option. At some companies, if you call and speak to a real person, you can still get USPS shipping. Not at Midway. I just tried to order two items, totaling $200. They wanted about $50 in UPS shipping. USPS would have cost probably $15-20 max. Called their customer service hotline, no go on USPS option anymore.

Too bad. I've been a customer for 25 years. Glad Cabelas is now in town.

Larry wants your money, not your concerns...thats why it is "thanks for your business" not "come back soon". I have an order going on 8 months. I won't cancel it. Now it is a family joke.

Poor Midway. They were a great customer service company once. I remember when they had GREAT sales on bullets and brass and the shipping was FREE.

My last purchase was a pretty good deal on a rifle case for the Wife's new AR. It was just what I was looking for and it was on closeout. They also had a 9mm mold I wanted, so I ordered that as well. They wouldn't open the case and drop the mold in it, so two shipping costs$$$ It seems the case came UPS and the mold (shipped in an envelope) came some hybrid UPS-USPS method. Not sure how all that helped me because after the shipping charges I was thinking that was a pretty expensive rifle case.

That is a shame- I have had nothing but good experiences when I ordered from them.

Somebody here post a direct email address or link straight to 'someone' there that 'might' care and then each of us who has posted here can complain to them together. Might not do any good but at least we can make them aware we are aware. I have no dog in this fight but would be willing to drop them a line. I hate when Alaskans get shafted like this.

I had about a $300 order in the cart recently, some AR parts and some reloading components, they wanted like $60 shipping.

Needless to say I waited a bit, bought the same things from Cabelas, brownells and local for about $17 shipping.

I too am done with midway.

Its not just Midway. There are a lot of places that will not ship to AK USPS, even if it is something that will fit in a flat rate box and ship for $5.95.

If you don't want the order bad enough to put some bullets in a flat rate box and drop it with the USPS carrier, then you don't need my business very bad. Unfortunately for us, the market in AK is small enough that a lot of these companies don't care.

The shipping problem with Midway is not on items going to Alaska only. A few months ago I wanted to order two scoped rifle cases that were on sale. The cost of the cases was just over $40.00. Shipping to Georgia was going to be a little over $26.00. When I heard that I cancelled the order.

My guess is they are upcharging the standard shipping rates with UPS and FedEx. I guess it is their way to do business but if someone was buying from me I would want to get the item to them as cheaply as possible.

I "was" gonna say that somebody should just email them this link, but I'm sure that's how a lot of companies feel and really DON'T care.

So the guy was looking at the inset of AK. & HI. that most maps have. If that wasn't so ridiculous it would be funny....!!!

I'd like to say that surprises me but I've been searching for a Suburban on Craigslist lately and the spelling and punctuation in a majority of adds would seem to confirm your allegations...

You mean it isn't? My brother and his family were at the ticket counter to fly up here for a visit and the ticket agent asked for their passports...... No kidding.

Brownell's is giving Midway a run for the money and still have the USPS option. Midway has just cut off their nose. Best of luck. I'll use Brownells and be happy Cabela's is opening soon.

Unfortunately, many businesses just don't want to deal with the USPS as the other guys are so much easier to do business with. I have found that when someone will listen, they learn that many things can be sent in a pre paid box or envelope for a flat fee, and many Post Offices will now "pick up" pkgs at a business, then good companies change. If not, I go somewhere else. The Internet is a wonderful place to shop and you can always do better. In the mean time, Midway just lost a whole State, what bad business IMHO.

I think you might be mistaken.
I just went online to "Midways" site and did up an order - "USPS Priority Mail" is still an option for shipping - however, the default shipping method is "UPS". You have to select "USPS Priority Mail".

Yup. Scroll to the bottom of the home page and click on "shipping costs & options"; nothing has changed there. I often shop Midway, tho my first go-to is always Buffalo Arms...
