Default Are the geese here yet??

I always see geese by April 1 in Anchorage and the valley, I know they start arriving before the first, has anybody seen them yet. Ducks will be right behind them and Sept 1 is only 5 months away. Bud

Tons of them here in Maryland! Did a 3 mile run today around the parade field on base and had close to 500 feeding, and that was just in the one field.

Nope, I'm going to call him this weekend. Temps here were pretty good today, it was in the 60s and supposed to be in the 70s on Saturday. We had 8 inches of snow fall on Monday though. Looks like we are going to get hit with more snow this coming tuesday too.

Not that I have seen, was down on the flats yesterday afternoon training dogs didn't see anything but a few ravens and an eagle. The winter hold overs(True Alaskan Mallards) have been pretty active in the upper part of cottonwood splashing around and carrying on so they must be thinking spring is just around the corner. With unusually cold temps in the lower 48 wouldn't be surprised if the birds don't show up a few weeks late.

I've spotted mergansers down on Wasilla Creek for the last week. I don't recall seeing them previously. Mallard drakes are already starting to peel hens out of the flock and give chase over Wasilla proper.

I saw a flock of 300 plus mallards in Seldovia bay this past week. Watched an eagle take one of them out and then have to swim to the shore with his kill. Luckily he was close to shore. It was an interesting thing to watch.

I pulled up this thread from last spring: http://forums.outdoorsdirectory.com/...is-here!/page2

reading it, looks like thousands arrived at the Palmer/Wasilla Y around April 20th. They should be here soon, there is open water waiting for them. Bud
