    Default afognak Bear hunt

I drew afognak last year for bear and elk unfortunately we didnt see any elk. Staying in a cabin was nice. We were on afognak for 8 days all but one day it was clear and beautiful couldnt have asked for a better hunt. Took several really nice deer and We had been seeing this boar hanging around the area for several days on the opening moring we spotted him heading up the bluff the wind had shifted for the best and he scented a gut pile from the a deer killed the day prier he shifted positions and took off after his meal not knowing that we headed back to the cabin apon ariving I spotted him on the gut pile with a quick breakfast he started trailing where I had drug the deer to the lake. Mean while we were getting in to possision for the shot at 160 yards we let the bullets fly with 3 shots form my 300 win mag 200gr bullets and 3 from my old mans 338 win mag 220gr we put him down what a thrill. Thanks to Rolen with Seahalk air he was able to get us out of there with poor condision approaching fast.

Awesome! The second I looked at him I thought BOAR. His ears are on the side of his head, claws are short and thick and those big bulging forearms. Awesome bear! I live on Afognak and I drew a brown bear tag for this fall. What part of the island did you get him? How big was his hide?

great bear! wife and i drew tags on afognak last year as well and scored a gorgeous little bear, with a great hide. Really neat place to hunt, we were over off lower malina lake.

Cool, I live across Izhut Bay from where you were at. We hunt that beach for deer. Congrats to you!
