    Default Pike and Burbot help

Have not done much ice fishing since we moved here 4 years ago and would like some help finding a lake or two near Anchorage to start ice fishing for Pike and or Burbot with the kids. I do have access to a ski plane so I am willing to fly to locations. Thanks for you help.

You got the best type of transportation that any one could have start flyin out to lakes and try them. Big lake has pike and eel pout in it.

Just about any of the lakes in Nancy Lake System has pike readily available. Most people are a little less forthcoming with their Burbot honey holes. My recommendation is to purchase the Highway Angler, Fishing Alaska's Road Systems. It was an invaluable tool when I came to Alaska and I still use it from time to time. The book will also provide you a list of species present in the area you plan to fish. It is worth the read. That being said you will have to travel North of Sutton on the Glenn Highway to find Burbot in fishable numbers in any lakes, or you can try the confluences of any major tributary entering the Big Su its pretty late in the season to be on the river however. Good Luck to you and the ice is still in pretty good shape as you head north on the Glenn.
