Within the past two weeks there have been reports of tracks posted here from the Anchorage hillside and the Cooper Landing area. Similar reports were made back in January. At this point it's just a semi-normal incident of bears getting up mid-winter to take a mosey about before laying back down. It may be a bit earlier than usual this year based on the snowpack, but looking out my window right now, it might not be. I'm hoping for a second or third weekend of April ski-based brown bear hunt in the Kenai Mountains, possibly followed up by some black bear forays in May.

There is a cure for that condition...............just grab a firearm and take a walk'about (and/or maybe snowshoes).

Very cool pic! What part of the state was this taken and how long ago?

Well, I have one laying half out of the den. It is 39* and this is the earliest I have watched one from the cabin. Earliest by about three weeks.
