Default LED lights on a boat.

With spring coming there will be people wanting to replace there lights with low current LED. There has been several reports of LED lights causing noise on the VHF radios. From what I read not all lights are a problem, and the manufacture may have solve any problems. It a question you may want to ask before buying.

Well I just installed 4 led light strips inside on the roof. Guess I should turn on the VHF and see.

If you do be sure to turn the squelch all the way down and the volume up.

I should add the problem was with the LED's that used a circuit that increases the voltage (hi-frequency oscillator) not a discrete component.

OK. Just checked and ran the squelch up and down thru several different channels. No interference at all. These are the lights I just installed. Really bright and super easy to install.
