Default Moving large amounts of ammo?

I had brought this up in the relocating forum but thought that I would see what info members might be able to share here.

Who has had large amounts shipped up to Alaska? I'm talking about over 500 lbs. What shipping options are there? Some said that 65 lbs was the limit on the ferry.

You need to call Lynden and ask them. There is a quantity they can have on barge or truck without turning the whole load hazmat. Truck is likely your best bet but Lynden dose it all and will know.

Alaskan express is your best bet. Get it to the port in seattle and they will get it to you here. I get REALLY good rates through my company and several people ship ammo and powder but I have never found it very cost effective because I cant find it cheap enough down there. also as I stated my rate is good BUT there is a minimum charge of $80 and well I would have a hard time buying enough powder to get to an $80 charge, now if I had some heavy ammo to throw in with it I could get there pretty easily. Still not cheaper than I can buy ammo and powder up here though.

907-276-4800 Some get better rates with Span Alaska or what not but all these places asked me to apply for an account then said I don't do enough tonnage to bother with. Lynden just said okay . . . I was still getting powder and primers here for $5/6 a pound less than AK retal.
