Default Herring by the Case in SC AK

Looking for suggestions, anyone have a source for Herring by the case (boxes) from Anchorage to Soldotna to Kenai to Seward? NOT LOOKING FOR THE 5LB BAGS

I'm familiar with Alaska Bait Co. in Anchorage, but his prices are some of the highest we pay anywhere.

Sources are good in Homer, Kachemak Gear Shed and out on the spit. I just like to buy in advance and salt them down at least 24hrs prior.

    Appreciate any input.

I got a 50 lb box from the sports shed in homer right on the spit. You can either get them frozen together or frozen individually. I think I paid around 60 bucks for the box?

Yeah, I usually end up buying my herring from the Sports Shed too. I've never had a problem finding herring by the case in Homer. It's just all points North of there that I have my problem. I like to thaw and salt some of the herring before I go out and I live in Sterling.

I wish there were more options here in Anchorage. The quality ranges from poor to downright nasty. That said, AK Bait Co. is the best I've found...both for price and availability...but they're still very hit and miss.

    Default 10th&M seafoods

used to sell it. Bought it from them a couple years in a row. If going to homer i buy it from the bait shop near the boat launch. $20 for a case there and they are large herring and not sure of the weight but atleast 20#'s.
