Looking for some help from ya'll. I want to do some grizzly hunting this spring but i am a newbie to grizzly hunting so I'm not sure where to go so i was hoping i could get some help from some grizzly hunters on the forums. I have access to a boat and a plane too. Anywhere that is a HT or Registration hunt would be greatly appreciated!!

It would be helpful to know "Roughly" what part of Alaska you live in.

Does your plane have wheel, sky or floats?

He has all three for the plane so we would put on what was needed depending upon the area we plan on traveling too.

Have you checkd into the opportunities for brown bear baiting this year? A few units, I can't name them off the top of my head are going to be open for it this year. I would check into those.

Is go on wheels in early June or
Late may. Pick a valley in the chugachs or talkeetna and start waiting and glassing. Give them
    Time and wait.

Haha well i told my buddy I'd pay for the fuel but i don't want to get to extreme with the cost this year, i'd like to get out and get some experience grizzly hunting before i get to crazy on spending money on it lol, not that its going to be real cheap anyways but this is my first attempt at going grizzly hunting so it should be interesting to say the least!!!

If you want to stay close(ish) to home, I'd look hard at the mountains on the far side of Unit 16. I haven't hunted it personally, so take my recommendation with a grain of salt - but that's one of the first places I plan to look once I feel comfortably flying a Cub on skis.

How long have you had your pilots license?

I've had my pilot's licence for almost 15 years, but am just getting started in a taildragger. Once I get that reasonably dialed in, though, it will open up a whole different world of spring bear hunting.
