Default Fishing on the Little Su questions.

    I have two major questions.

Has anyone fished out of a canoe or kayak for salmon, if so did you launch at the parks and float down?

I'm wanting to set up an open face with braided line for casting spinners. What size line would be best for Kings?

I've floated by canoe several times from the parks, and I've always used 30 lb test for kings. .

Launch in Houston and float down, lots of people do it just as you presume.
20lb test for Kings is plenty unless you want to horse them in. Little Su does not have the current or large kings like the kenai.

The float from Houston to Millers landing is fun. I've done it for both Kings and Silvers. There's many bends and woody snags, so depending on the flow speed it could be tough to fish while drifting. Plenty of places to stop and fish a nice bend though. Cross your fingers that any kings actually return. I haven't fished there in a few years but I hear numbers are way down.

I fished it last year. It was from a powered boat though. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1393106252.046019.jpg

First you must be assuming that kings are going to be open and running.......

That's what I'm hoping for but will use the same method for other salmon as well!

How long does it take to float from the Highway to Millers?
The secret to fishing is: Fish where the fish are.
