    Default Happy Draw-Eve!

Today is the last day of the year when all that applied are potential winners!

Gotta love the day before the draw.

Tomorrow a few lucky folks will be feverishly calling flight services and start formally planning a hunt they may have dreamed of for years. The vast majority of us however will experience a brief period of excitement followed by reading the word NO listed somewhere between 1 and 27 times.

Then comes the weeks of "I got dxxxx what do I do?" Posts!

And of course the response from someone who is mad that they didn't draw anything saying "you should have known this before you applied".

Don't be that guy. Just cause you didn't draw doesn't mean you should harass those who did and are just looking for information.

Think of it from the positive side. Everyone is a winner, just not winning the same thing. The drawing winners win a hunting permit. The others who don't draw, "win" the opportunity to put in for that same hunt the next year. That is something the drawing winners actually lose. They don't get the option to have a chance at that hunt the following year (or years depending on the specific hunt).

Good luck to all,, the only thing the draw results will change for me is where I will hunt. Still will be out there,, somewhere.

You had to go and say that didn't you? Now I'm going to be anticipating it all night and not getting much sleep. I'm going to the SCI banquet tomorrow night either celebrating or drowning my sorrows. Good luck everyone.

'Twas the night before draw results
    And all through the state
    Every hunter was waiting
    To learn of their fate

    The choices had been made
    The hunts selected with care
    In hopes that good news
    Soon would be there.

    Sleep wouldn't come easy
    That long, restless night
    Refresh buttons would be pushed
    Long before morning's light

    First one false results thread
    And then came a second
    If another guys does that,
    Ill just ban em!
    , I reckoned

    When out through the forums
    There arose such a clatter
    I refreshed my web browser
To see what was the matter

    Up came from the pages
    A deep mournful cry
    From those who won nothing
Those whom luck had passed by

    Conspiracy theories
    Accusations of fraud
    No tags for false reporters
    Like Luke and like Claude

    But then my ears heard
    Shouts of joy letting loose
    The first member triumphant
    Yelling I WON A MOOSE!

    Then musk ox and bear
    Mountain goat and a sheep
    An elk and a bison
Oh, the tags we did reap!

    Caught up in the excitement
    I had waited to look
    Had I gotten lucky?
Was my name in that book?

    I saw that my inbox
    Had something for me
It was time to find out
Would lady luck shine on me?

    Delta sheep and bull moose!
    Mountain goat on the isle!
    Archery brown bear
Oh, I screamed quite a while!

Then I called for my wife
And she checked for her name
    Chugach sheep and a bison
Yes, she screamed just the same!

All was well with the world
Things had turned out just right
So to all I wish luck
And to all a good night!

3 ways to look at that glass of water:

1st guy thinks it's half empty

2nd guy thinks it's half full

I think there is room for scotch

Don't be that guy. Just cause you didn't draw doesn't mean you should harass those who did and are just looking for information.

Well, I'll be the first to admit I do get aggravated when I see one guy win 4 or 5 draw hunts and I got none. I just don't think that is right. But I will also say that as a general rule, I am not bitter about people getting a draw permit. It is what it is.

It can be aggravating to hear those questions though : "I got dxxxx - now what do i do?" because if you didn't have a plan for hunting it, you shouldn't have applied for it. At least get your ducks in a row in your head before you go get a tag you have no idea how to hunt for. Just my opinion.

    Good luck to everyone.

As with all the other aspects to the draw hunts, those people getting multiple permits and those who don't do the research ahead of time and end up not hunting or not effectively hunting, are all factored into the number of permits given out. If everyone did their research or they limited how many any one person could get, the success rates on the permits given out would be higher and thus fewer permits would be available to achieve the desired "take" on the resource. I used to get a little annoyed, but once I wrapped my head around the mathematics behind it, I realized it wouldn't make anything better if those people were taken out of the system. It all works out in the end.

One thing to remember when you see a person win multiple tags,, some tags have a high percent chance of being drawn and others a very low chance. When I put in for several less than 1% tags, hard for me to be a hater for those that draw a high percentage tag.

Ak explorer it irritates me too when people know nothing about the tag they drew. It just irritates me more when they ask and people just attack them.

Also I know I have about 8-9 tags that if I drew I will have to ask some questions. I know I can hunt them but would just want some details of the best way to hunt them. I'm sure that's the case for many people here too. Good luck!
