    Default Fairbanks Cerakote??

Can anyone recommend a place in Fairbanks to get a rifle Cerakoted?? Any advice would be appreciated, any draw backs to this coating??

    Thanks

Cerakote seems OK. However the folks applying it locally are not real savvy on what parts NOT to spray. It does build a "thickness" that will interfere with the operation of critical components. Send your gun out to RO-BAR. Excellent work, fair prices.

I would look on the cerakote website and search the applicators for your area: http://www.cerakoteguncoatings.com/resource/locator/ They will list who is factory certified to do it, and show their work. I did just that, and found someone doing it here in Anchorage that was factory trained. Dropped of a glock and AR to him, and I could not be happier with the results. Yes, there is color inside and out but everything fit together perfectly, there are no clearance issues at ALL, and everything is operating smoothly. I would steer clear of anyone that does not have the factory certification as mentioned above, there can be thickness/clearance problems and shoddy work. Saw someones work in town at a gunstore lately where the owner was asking where to go to get it fixed, as there were fingerprints, clearance problems and uneven color. Just poor work overall, and the person that did it was a part time, untrained applicator that is not listed on the site.

I believe gunbugs is likely making reference to the only vendor applying the stuff here in Fairbanks...
FWIW, I'll offer that (~15 years ago) said vendor coated a rifle for me with a different product and did a fine job.
