Thread: Building your own packraft

    Default Building your own packraft

Curious if anybody here has attempted this. On one of my trips last fall I was on the 20 mile river and bumped into a couple guys floating down in packrafts they had made themselves. They seemed to be effective and very lightweight. It almost seemed like construction grade trashbag material. Curious if anybody knew what material was used, any design plans for how to cut the pieces and how it was sewed together.

    Thanks Much

Sounds like another great project for the master seamstress, Stid.

In one of the PR 49 threads Larry posted some design answers and I think he had a detailed conversation with these builders about materials and what not. A lot of discussion on self bailing floors verses weight.
