Thread: Savage/Springfield 15 Bolt question

    Default Savage/Springfield 15 Bolt question

So I've got an old Savage/Springfield 15 single shot 22 that I picked up from a friend. The bolt seems pretty sticky and I wanted to disassemble it to clean it. I can pull back the cocking piece and see the mainspring is loaded with dirt. The problem it I can't get the cocking piece to unscrew from the striker. I feel like I have to be missing something and can't figure out what it is. I've attached a couple pics for reference.

Don't know if it helps, but you might look around Numrich's catalog at the individual pieces (for sale). Might give you an idea on how to disassemble it.

Thanks for the idea but I did that. I ordered a couple parts as well for the bolt. Just have to figure out what I am missing.

I used to have an old Winchester 97 22 and disassembling it gave me fits. I gave it away to a nephew. But that was before youtube. Hope this link helps.
