    Default Biggest Pike Ever!!!

Well, at least, my biggest Pike ever... & Now that I got your attention, take a look at this pikagator I caught today on the Yukon! Some hot pike fishing today, just right outside my door, & only 4' or less of water, with only a green pixie, single Gamakatsu hook & no leader! Jigging right off the back of someone's beached boat! WHOA! all total I caught 7 pike in two days, one yesterday & 6 today! Seems I was one of the few catching pike today.

    Default Gave away...

I gave that pike away to my mother & father inlaw, & they ate it same day, my med. sized pikes I filleted up, breaded & fried up, & the hammer handles were given to my dog...

That pic reminds of the hay days on Fire Lake. Nice pike! Somewhere that 70 incher is just waiting for that green pixee.

    Default Nice Haul today...

two hammer handles & three mediums, I switched to a larger pixie, but wasn't getting too many bites, then my friend told me to use the plugs I have, (wiggle warts, & Kwik fish) I used the wiggle wart first & bagged two quick hammer handles, & then switched to a 5" kwik fish & bagged the last ones, lots of action today. Real fun watching them hit the lures mere feet from your rod!

I can't wait for the kings to come in!!

This is the pike I want to catch.

That thing is big enough to keep the kids from swimming in the water.

I think you would have to use a Live Duck for Top Water bait on that beast. Serious though, with the Hammer Handles how do you do them so you can feed them to the dogs and not worry about bones and stuff. I would assume Grind them up, But would like to find a use for them as I hate throwing them back in the water. small ones are a pain to fillet right.

    Default Bones on hammer handles...

I don't grind them up, I just cut them up head, guts & all & boil them up, & somehow the dog just eats them right up...I've seen other mushers do the same with hammer handle pike, so I picked it up from them...

Jeffester, what kind of dogs do you have?

    Default Eat small pike...

I've eaten a bunch of smaller pikes. We just boil for a minute to soften things up a bit and grind real good until you can't tell bone from meat. then make a crab cake out of it. Tastes real good and can't tell there are any bones in it. Just thought I would through my two cents in.
