    Default Kinds of cabin tress?

Just wondering about the options for types of trees for building cabins. What is the best for the state of alaska. Just wondering if different areas produce better trees for building i.e. black or white spruce, hemlock etc. any thoughts or insights would be appreciated.

The best ones are the ones close by. In much of the state, that's going to be white or black spruce. Although black spruce is usually a sad excuse for a tree. In the southeast you have a few more options hemlock, cedar, Sitka spruce, and some others. Except for southeast, the trees up here are generally smaller than what your probably used to.

The best log construction I've seen was done by Log Weavers from Nenana white spruce.
