That would depend on a few things.

    The size of the bear?

    The size of the man

Where the bullet/arrow hole (s) are

I've seen one on a guy once. Was a rough job. Mostly just the pelt with arm holes.

Really gave that "do NOT mess with me" impression.

If you're serious about making one, just cut out a pattern that fits you and lay it over a tanned bear hide. That should tell you quickly whether it will suit your needs. The "lay" of the hair pattern has to be factored in if you want it to look good.

The AK State Hide and Horn Auction in conjunction with Fur Rondy this Feb would be a good place to bid on some raw bear hides that the state has confiscated. The black bear hides usually are fairly reasonable. Add the cost of tanning and you should be able to put together something for under $300 if you do the work yourself.

I play softball with a man who made his own black bear/wolf coat, hat, and mittens. It is stunning. All hand sewn.

How big a 'bar didja shoot, and how big a fella is youz............LOL.

Well worth the effort. I have a fairly poor spring PWS bear as a starter........
