Default What a summer out on the Sound.

DMan's "Winter time blues" thread has gotten me motivated to post a few photos from this season out on Prince William Sound. It has been a long time since we have had such a long string warm boating days. It took a long time getting here, but was well worth it!

We made a few trips to grab oysters. These have to be the sweetest, most flavorful oysters I have ever eaten. We even found a couple of pearls.

Only needed the redneck tarp a couple of times.

Father's day weekend was as hot as I have experienced out there. Mid 90šs? You have to be kidding me!

The kids spent the entire day in the water. We even broke out the tube.

    Found a nice cooler.

We were invited to a boat show at Eshamy Bay Lodge. We aren't used to being the little boat.

They even had live music. Caribbean Slim made an appearance.

We broke in another boat dog. Sage is working out quite well.

We even found some time to find some flat fish.

Any fool can rough it, so we tend to eat quite well out there.

Care to guess how long we waited cumulatively for the three?

Pete... We eat pretty well too... but there was enough prime rib on your plate for the whole crew... be careful you'll end up looking like me. I'll be out and about the first two weeks of April hope to run into you one of these days. I'm working on a jocky box for that beer tap. for now this will have to do...dean crk.jpg

Since I was intimately involved in "Sound Escape's" build (5 years) and since I've been told by B that you guys had it "better" than him I'm gonna guess 10.75 years.

Close but a little shy yet. On another note, by boy is 11.5 (hint hint) and am looking forward to getting him on his first black bear this next spring.

11.5 yrs?? Tell me what I've won. Hopefully, this summer 2014 we can be the little boat rafted up with you big guys. Talked to Bay Weld and the plan is to start our build in Sept 2014 with delivery in Spring 2015. 10 months to wait just to start the build is killing me, can't imagine what you fellows went through. Oh wait, yes I can, cause I was sent to the shop once a week to see that nothing had been done for 5 years.

You will love that Bayweld. Great family to work with as well.

We met with Eric in October and I'm not ashamed to say I have a man crush. Spent two and a half hours with us, talking boats, size, specs, motors, accessories, cabin design, electronics. Haven't paid the guy a dime and in October we were over a year out from even being ready to put money down, but we were treated like a paying customer. Showed us around the shop, showed us other boats that were in storage. Just a really genuinely nice guy. OK, sorry to hijack the thread. Back to posting summer pics and reminiscing.

    1S1K,

If you don't mind me asking, what type of boat are you going to have Bay Weld build you? Length/width? Drop bow or cuddy cabin? I have Bay Weld sleep aboard boat envy as we have outgrown our Bay Weld day boat.

Just for my own curiosity why did it take five years for a boat to be built. I went bat ***** crazy cause my Kingfisher was a couple months late. No way could I have waited that long.

Spend the time running or spend the time soaking bait and calling them in with scent. Both seem to work.
