    Default DM413 moose hunt

My hunting partner will be Home on leave from active duty on the 10th of DEC we are going to try to fill his cow tag around Big Lake. How is the snow or lack of snow. Waiting to last to load up 4 wheelers or snow machines. Any input would be great!

I have the same permit. With the weather just warming up and for how long is the question. I live in Wasilla and we have ice on top of about 4 inches of snow. Might want to try down KGB road rather than Big lake tho. PM me for further details... Ken AKA the whop

My 13 yr old son and I were fortunate enough to draw this tag. MatSu winter hunt from Nov - Dec, antlerless moose - it looks like an easy one to fill but I would rather make a hunt out of it than road hunt. Any suggestions on where to begin? Good trails to hike, places to camp that may have some animals? What about the Hay Flats in the winter?

I commend you for trying to make it a hunt for your son.

After it snows I would drive around looking for fresh tracks once you find tracks follow them until you find the animal. It may take a few days it does not matter you will have your winter camping gear with you.
