    Default Group tent suggestions wanted

Looking for ideas on a larger tent that can handle a lot of wind and sleep 4 comfortably [8 man size].
We currently have 8 man Cabela's Outfitter tents but looking for less weight and better wind handling.
    Thanks.

12 person tipi. Weighs around 10-14 lbs. and as long as you have it staked down good, handles wind like a breeze.

I have the 12 man Kifaru and it's survived some good winds but it's still not ready for Aleutian weather.
    Thanks.

Have you researched the Hillebergs? $$$ but handmade, bomber and lifetime guarantee.

Not a stand up tent but I bet this sucker will handle the weather. I have a 2 man (Tarra) made from the same fabric and it's tough.

    Expedition grade....

Then there is this one that's a standup 8 man.

You are going to have to go with a mountaineering type tent, base camp size. They are made for high wind areas, out of strong high quality materials. The cost is high for these base camp tents...

    Thanks guys!

I also have a Hilleberg Tarra and love it! The quality is there no doubt!
We are currently researching the larger Hilleberg base camp tents as suggested.

    Thanks again

There is always a Mountain Hardwear Spacestation tent. Assuming of course you don't mind spending 5 grand on one.

Have you thought about taking a couple smaller mountaineering tents as opposed to just one big tent? I think that trying to find a big 8 man tent, that weighs less then your Cabela's 8 man, and that can withstand hurricane force winds, might not be all that feasible. I don't know if there's a tent made that can fill all those requirements. Maybe a smaller tipi?
