Default Haul Road "Camping Fee" Rescinded

Take a look at this article in today's Daily News for a story about the cancelling of the proposed camping fee for hunters and campers along the Dalton Highway.

Default not rescinded for commercial ops

Brian, that is just reprint of article that was in Newsminer last week. When I first became aware of this I wrote a letter to NSB from Alaska Backcountry Hunters and Anglers and I finally received this reply below from Gordon Brower. Only passing it on here in case any commercial operators may misinterpret things:

We have made an error using a Title 19 that is not in circulation and its being corrected. There is no fee for camping at this time, but all commercial activities must be permitted that include transporter activities, guiding activities, tour guiding, anything commercial recreation.

Thanks for the clarification, Mark. I guess I missed this last week in the midst of all of the year-ending madness at school. Anyhow, I'm glad that the ADN ran the story as well.
